DESCRIPTION: John Hutton, London, for James Dallas, London, spring detent pocket chronometer with mahogany box, 13 jewels, key wind and set, gilt full plate movement with Earnshaws escapement, freesprung Z balance with diamond endstone in a sterling silver, hinged back and bezel, consular open face case with London hallmark and date letter for the year 1849, Roman numeral white enamel dial, gold spade and whip hands, serial #205, 56mm, with three section deck box.
CONDITION: CASE: A few shallow dents; Scratches and marks on outer surface of case; Minor scratches on inner surface of case; Crystal with fine scratches; Bow with wear; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Small edge chip at 8:00, otherwise very good. HANDS: Replaced minute. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on plate; Plates polished, lacking gilding; Minor spotting; Specks of dirt / dust. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks). Box with minor veneer splits and wear.
